Christmas time again and what better way to find the mood than to create cards for family and friends. This year we used the Encaustic Art polymer stamp holiday season set to make reindeer stag s in the snow. Below are the results of that work and a basic idea about how to use polymer or rubber stamps with the encaustic art waxes if you haven’t already tried that out.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Christmas 2018 Stags in the snow Polymer stamps from the Holiday Seasons set Double stamps mounted onto the acrylic block for quicker printing Clear wax (No.27) and Cyan Blue (No.46) Ironed onto the dry stamped images Mountains put in using the iron’s tip pointed end A platform of solidity for the reindeer to stand upon The basic image before any snow falls! Well, lots of them …. Flicking off molten white wax using a natural hair brush Resting the brush head on the iron between cards keeps it warm and ready to go Blizzard conditions in places! Encaustic Art Wax Sealer onto a fabric pad (old teeshirt) Spread the sealer all over the waxed image
Finish with dabbing up and down to avoid any marks when it driesNice even coating of sealer Adds a layer of protective acrylic to the surface All done and drying out (about an hour) Peeling off double sided tape on the inner panel of the aperture card Position the card adn stick into place Finished one! Folding the flap of the aperture over to hide the card’s back Another finished one. … and a very Merry Christmas to you – staggering eh!
