My journey in Encaustic Art began as a hobby after meeting Michael and Shona Bossom (founders of Arts Encaustic) following an unexpected life changing event which resulted in the loss of my award-winning floristry business in Bolton upon Dearne, South Yorkshire.
After spending some time enjoy Encaustic Art as a hobby. I identified a need to make Encaustic Art accessible to all people of all abilities. Fulling this need became the driving force behind Encaustic Art becoming my full-time career when I opened my studio Encaustic Art Plus, at Elsecar Heritage Centre in 2009.
Since then, I have taught Encaustic Art techniques to many people of varying abilities, overcoming barriers, breaking down social isolation, building self-confidence both in people and their artistic abilities. Encaustic Art can present itself as an extremely powerful therapeutic tool due to the speed at which a completed and satisfying piece of art can be achieved.
